ESOL Practice

We're wrapping things up this week.  We reviewed describing people.  We practiced adjective order-- especially size, color, pattern.  You might wear a large, red striped skirt, not  a striped, red, large skirt.

Girl Scouts is an organization in which young girls get together, go camping, do crafts, and volunteer to work in the community.  Their theme song is "Make New Friends."

Make it -- succeed

Remember -- never write "wanna."  "Wanna" should be "want to."

Wanting success leads to wearing shorts on the beach because the songwriter wants to be a Hollywood movie star.  She hopes a director sees her and wants to put her in a movie.

This kid's exercise song is called "Do Your Chores."  It's juvenile, but catchy with some Ventures Unit 3 Vocabulary.

Against the wind

This video is a little fast, but I think many of you can still follow it.
There are a few spelling mistakes.  Can you spot any of them?

I was dancing that night...

Practice Past Continuous

Do you have a memory when you learned about something important in the news?  What were you doing when you heard the news?  (I was cooking when I heard that the Malaisian Jet Liner had disappeared.)

Where were you and what were you doing when you first heard your favorite song?

Happy International Women's Day

Yesterday, Noelva told us about Women's Day.  In Colombia, man wait on women, bring flowers, or take them out to eat today.  She told us that people remember female garment workers who were killed in a factory fire because the owner locked them in.  She also told us that it commemorated protests for equal wages and better working conditions for female workers.

International Women's Day

Did you do anything for Women's Day?  What did you do?  Does your country celebrate women's day?  Do you admire any women?  Who?

Are you a mother?

World Education.org wants mothers to write about taking classes while being mothers.  They will pay $50 to some of the students who write.  I  would like all my mothers to write about being students.

Where did you grow up?  How hold are you?  What was your education before this class?  Do your children like that you are in school?
