Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day was a big deal when I was in elementary school.  Every student in the class made or bought "valentines"--paper greeting cards -- for every other student in the class.  Students often gave out candy too.

Groundhog Day

Today is Groundhog Day.  According to superstition, if the groundhog sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter.  If not, there will be an early Spring.    (My father-in-law loved to say that it was either six weeks or a month-and-a-half)  The official groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, didn't see his shadow.  He predicted an early spring!
