NO SCHOOL WEDNESDAY January 27!!

Stuck

Stuck means you can't move.  We often use stuck with "in."    My car was stuck in the driveway until my husband dug it out.

Sometimes, you will hear "stuck on" a person.  If I'm stuck on you, I like you a lot.

Who was your first love?  How did you meet?  What did the person look like?  Do you still contact that person?

When we're hungry...

When I'm hungry, I don't want love.  I want fajitas or kung pao chicken.  What do you want when you are hungry?

Desperado

My Italian is lousy.  (I don't speak any)  I can't tell you if the translations are good.  The English matches the words.  Some of the grammar isn't proper, but it's a good song.  I just learned that the Eagles' guitarist died.

Do you know anybody that's single because he or she is really picky?  Are you married?  How did you meet your sweetheart?

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!!

On Monday, we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day!!

Some People Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.'s life by working for no money in a "National Day of Service"

Parks that usually cost $$ for admission that are free (no admission $$) on Monday.

Martin Luther King Jr. worked to make the laws equal (the same/similar) for everyone, rather than different for people with dark brown skin color.

People who protested that the United States Laws were not good for everybody often sang this song while they walked.  Shall = will( = future happening).  "Shall" is an old word-- not used often now.  Overcome -- means "win" or "keep going" when it's really, really hard to win or keep going.

You will overcome the difficulty of learning English soon.

More information about Martin Luther King Jr. (made for children, but I like it.)

The next song was written for Martin Luther King Jr. just after he died.

What helps you keep going when you feel like stopping?  What do you think about?

We Shall Overcome

Martin Luther King Jr. and his followers sang this song when they protested for equal rights under the law regardless of skin color.  Can you find the spelling mistake in the video?

When you overcome something, you win despite many problems.  Tell me about a time you did something even though it was difficult.
